BRENNAKTUELL BAROKK IN HAMAR

Starting in January 2016, Norwegian Cornett & Sackbuts will perform the concert series Brennaktuell Barokk in two different places, both in Gamle Aker Church in Oslo, and in Hamar Cathedral/Hamar domkirke.

 

CD RECORDING

Norwegian Cornett & Sackbuts released a new CD in November 2015! The CD was released on the 19th of November with a release concert at the pub Carl Berner-kjelleren in Oslo. Following the release there is now a possibility to buy the CD online and on Itunes. 

 

CANTO FIORITO IN LITHUANIA

In October 2015, Norwegian Cornett & Sackbuts will be working together with the Lithuanian ensemble Canto Fiorito, for concerts in Lithuania and Norway, playing music by Marco Scacchi and Giovanni Batista Cocciola. The project is supported by the EEA grants .

 

KAMMERFEST ØSTFOLD

Norwegian Cornett & Sackbuts will be performing at the festival Kammerfest i Østfold (formerly known as Festival of Music for Wind & Percussion) in Norway in May 2015. We will play concerts in Sarpsborg (22nd of May), Halden (23rd of May) and Fredrikstad (24th of May).

 

BRENNAKTUELL BAROKK 2015

VESPRO DELLA BEATA VERGINE - 1610

The 25th and 26th of October 2014, Norwegian Cornett & Sackbuts will perform Monteverdis wonderful Vespers in Oslo domkirke and Høvik kirke, together with Calliophon and Bærum Bachkor. NCS will be an extended ensemble with eight extra musicians; violins, viola da gambas, theorbo, organ and an extra cornetto player. The soloists from Calliophon will be: Cathrine Bothner-By - soprano, Victoria Liedbergius - soprano, Daniel Sæther - alto, Øystein Stensheim - tenor, Eirik P.Krokfjord - baryton, Gustav Natt och Dag - bass.

ACHIEVING FINANCIAL SUPPORT BY ARTS COUNCIL NORWAY

Norwegian Cornett & Sackbuts has achieved financial support for music ensembles for 2013 from the Arts Council Norway.

NORWEGIAN CORNETT & SACKBUTS PERFORMING IN KARLSTAD JANUARY 2012

In January 2012 NCS will have a concert in Värmland in Sweden, in Karlstad Cathedral Saturday the 21st of January at 16.00, a concert arranged by Karlstads kammarmusiksällskap.

 

CHRISTMAS CONCERTS 

Norwegian Cornett & Sackbuts will perform two Christmas concerts in the Oslo-aera; "In dulci Jubilo" in Høvik church in Bærum Wednesday the 14th of desember, and "In dulci jubilo - Et barn er oss født" as a part of the concert series BRENNAKTUELL BAROKK in Gamle Aker church in Oslo Friday the 16th of december. EMBLA RECORDING FINISHED AND FOR SALE

The recording NCS did in the end of May 2011, together with the choir Embla, has now been finished and can be bought at the choir's website www.embla.org

 

TOUR TO ICELAND WITH BÆRUM BACHKOR

The 1st of December, NCS will travel to Iceland to hold a concert together with the choir Bærum Bachkor to celebrate their 25th anniversary as a choir! We look very much forward to playing with this excellent choir again and also to come back to Iceland! The concert is in Langholtskirkja in Reykjavik the 2nd of December.

 

LAST DAY OF RECORDING AT ASKER CHURCH

The 20th of November NCS did the last day of recording the new CD, "Cancionero de Upsala" in Asker church. We hope to have the CD finished within the first few weeks of 2012. Check our website again for updates on the progress!

 

NOVEMBER CONCERTS IN KONGSBERG CHURCH AND HILLEVÅG CHURCH, STAVANGER

November the 19th the ensemble held a concert in Kongsberg church, and the 23rd of November a concert in Hillevåg. It was a really nice experience both to be back in Kongsberg where we did our recording in 2009, and in Hillevåg in Stavanger, our home region!

 

NORWEGIAN CORNETT & SACKBUTS TOURING SWEDEN

The “Cancionero de Upsala”programme will be performed in four concerts in Sweden in August and September 2011. The first concert is at “Residenset Marieholm” in Mariestad the 20th of August at 19.00, more details on www.musikpaslott.se. After that the ensemble plays by the lake Kalksjön outside of Skövde (in case of rain the concert will be inside in Bergs Church) the 21st of August at 19.00, more details on www.musikpabillingen.se. These concerts are arranged by "Musik i Väst".

The 21st of September at 19.00, NCS will perform in Kulturhuset Anders in Höör, and the 22nd of September at 19.00 in Oskarshamn, in southern Sweden. These concerts is arranged by "Musik i Syd".

 

RECORDING A NEW CD WITH THE MUSIC FROM "CANCIONERO DE UPSALA"

In August 2011 Norwegian Cornett & Sackbuts started the recording of a new CD with Spanish renaissance and baroque music, amongst others songs from the collection "Cancionero de Upsala", in Asker church. To help us we had the fantastic technician Thomas Wolden and producer Lars Henrik Johansen, and we are looking very much forward to hearing the result!

 

NORWEGIAN CORNETT & SACKBUTS PERFORMING AT OSLO KAMMERMUSIKKFESTIVAL

NCS and Rolf Lislevand will be playing ”Music from Christian IVs court” in Slottskirken at Akershus festning. Saturday the 13th of August at 10.00. Sunday the 14th of August at 13.00 NCS will perform the program ”Cancionero de Upsala” in the Palace Chapel at the Royal Palace of Norway.

 

RECORDING WITH FEMALE CHOIR "EMBLA" IN TRONDHEIM

In the end of May, NCS did a recording together with the female choir Embla from Trondheim(www.embla.org) and we are really looking forward to hearing the final results of this recording.

 

NORWEGIAN CORNETT & SACKBUTS PERFORMING AT OSLO LADEGÅRD

On the 11th of May the ensemble performed at Oslo Ladegård. It was very nice to perform at Ladegården again, for the first time in almost two years!

OPENING CONCERT AT BRENNAKTUELL BAROKK, GAMLE AKER KIRKE (OSLO)

The 25th of September 2010, NCS held the opening concert of Oslo’s new chamber music series ”Brennaktuell Barokk”. The concert was very well received by an enthusiastic audience, so now we hope for a good continuation of this concert series! The next ”Brennaktuell Barokk” concert is the 27th of November.

 

NORWEGIAN CORNETT & SACKBUTS AT SEVIQC BREZICE FESTIVAL, SLOVENIA

In the beginning of September 2010, the ensemble toured Slovenia with concerts at the large early music festival Seviqc Brezice Festival. WINNERS OF EAR-ly 2010, NORWEGIAN CORNETT & SACKBUTS

Norwegian Cornett and Sackbuts are the winners of EAR-ly 2010, the first Nordic competition for early music, organised by the Nordic Early Music Federation (NORDEM). The competition was held in Stockholm on the 10th of June during Stockholm Early Music Festival in the beautiful German Church in The Old Town. The jury consisted of Ton Koopman, Michael Popp and Camilla Lundberg. The prize was 50 000,- SEK. (Updated 18th of June 2010)

Norwegian Cornett and Sackbuts are performing this summer in Slovenia at the Seviqc Brezice Festival. They wil perform three concerts at the Seviqc Brezice Festival in Slovenia.  30.8.10 Concert, at 20:30 in the Church of the Mother of God. 1.9.10 Concert at 20:30 in the Church of St. Roch. 2.9.10 Concert at 20:30 in Maribor. NORWEGIAN CORNETT AND SAKCBUTS FINALISTS IN EAR-ly 2010

The NORDEM jury has chosen three ensembles of young musicians to participate in the final of the first Nordic early music competition – “EAR-ly 2010”. The finals will be held in Stockholm on 10 June 2010, as part of the 9th Stockholm Early Music Festival. (www.semf.se)

The three finalists, Norwegian Cornett & Sackbuts (Norway), SthlmMusica (Sweden), and Woodpeckers Recorder Quartet (Sweden), will perform in a concert before an international jury, headed by Dutch baroque specialist Ton Koopman. The winning ensemble will receive a scholarship of 50,000 SEK.

NORDEM (The Nordic Early Music Federation) is an inter-Nordic organisation working to strengthen and further early music. Through “EAR-ly 2010”, NORDEM hopes to encourage the forming of new ensembles and to stimulate an interest in baroque, Renaissance and mediaeval repertoire among music students. The EAR-ly competition will be a recurring biennial event, hosted by each of the Nordic countries in turn.

 

"THE FRUIT OF LOVE" MINI TOUR WITH NORWEGIAN CORNETT & SACKBUTS 18TH-25TH OF APRIL

NCS are going on a mini tour from the 18th of april-25th of april. Performing: The fruit of Love - English music from Henry VIII to Charles II’s era. Concerts wil be held in Fjære church Grimstad, Strømsø church Drammen and in Asker church in Asker. Check out our performance calender for more info.

NCS will for the first time play in the concert series Café de Concert this spring. The concerts will be held at Café Frölich in Oslo. HOME FROM BELGIUM AND THE IYAP 2009 (edited 4th of September)

 Norwegian Cornett & Sackbuts had a great experience being a finalist in the International Young Artist’s Presentation Competition in Antwerp 27th-30th of August. We heard some excellent ensembles, had a rewarding masterclass with Pedro Memelsdorff and came home to Norway as a very inspired ensemble. We were pleased with our performance in the final and we congratulate I Fideli and Cuvilliés Trio München with their prizes. A big thank you from us to the festival and our fellow colleagues. FINALISTS IYAP

 Norwegian Cornett & Sackbuts have been selected for the finals of the competition International Young Artists Presentation-Historical Wind Instruments Edition in Antwerpen, Belgium in the end of August 2009. The ensemble was picked out, together with seven other ensembles, from 24 applying ensembles. NCS will present itself to the festival audience of Laus Polyphoniae and to a jury of international specialists of the early music scene. Check out their website: www.musica.be 

 

NORDIC SUMMER TOUR 2009

With help from MFO and Nordisk Kulturfond, Rogaland Fylkeskommune and Clara Lachmann’s fund NCS will be having a Nordic Tour in the Summer of 2009. 
The ensemble will visit Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Iceland playing music from King Christian IV’s court. Guest musician is Alexandra Opsahl, cornetto. Check our performance calendar to see if we are touring near you!

SUMMER TOUR 2008
